Been drivin lorries near on 30 years now and sometimes the loneliness gets proper heavy. Not gonna lie. Roads blur together like grey watercolours and all ya got is yr radio and yr thoughts.

Last tuesday I picked up a load in norfolk headed toward liverpool. Knew id be passin through some good spots where ive got contacts. Met this proper lovely girl in a layby outside manchester midway through my route. She was polish sarah i think her name was. Clean spot she'd arranged right off the A580 east lancs road.

Some drivers dont understand how complicated this all is. Its not just bout sex. Its bout connection. Moment of human warmth when yr entire life is just miles and diesel and schedulin deliveries. Sarah knew how to talk. Asked bout my route asked bout my week. Didnt feel transactional just felt human.

Truck stops can be lonely places. Most nights yr eatin microwaved food in yr cab watchin motorway traffic roll past. These encounters break up the monotony. Keep a fella sane.

Anyways gonna need to rest up. Long haul tomorrow and these old bones dont recover like they used to.
